Blizzard is starting small on Oct. 27
Blizzard hasn’t been shy about sharing footage of its team-based multiplayer shooterOverwatch, but I’m at a point where I’d rather just play the game now. I’ve seen and heard enough.
An opportunity to go hands-on will thankfully be here before long. The closed beta begins Jun 25, 2025 in North America (). The idea is to start with an “extremely limited” pool of testers to give detailed feedback on game balance, then “open the floodgates” for stress tests.
The company will “call upon an army to overwhelm [its] hardware” during Beta Test Weekends, the first of which is set for sometime after BlizzCon ends in early November. During these events, “the number of heroes, maps, and gameplay modes will be restricted.” I’m okay with that.
