Get to know the people who make great videogames

[Sup Holmes is a weekly talk show for people that make great videogames. It airs live every Sunday at 4pm EST onYouTube, and can be found in Podcast form onLibsynandiTunes.]

A few weeks ago on Sup Holmes, we spent a good hour and a half chatting with boy genius game designer and notoriousNew Yoshi’s Islanddetractor Tyler Glaiel. Tyler was working onClosure, his PSN debut, back when he was still in college. It’s not often that you meet a young man below the legal drinking age who spends his free time alternating between passing tests and and passing lot checks.

Before college, Tyler was one of the more successful teen developers on Newgrounds, pulling in thousands of dollars from Flash games alone. That’s where he met Edmund McMillen, and ended up working onAether, one of the games that helped define howEdmund was depicted inIndie Game: The Movie. We talked with Tyler all about the process of growing up as a game developer, his very first game (it’s about poop), an amazing unused game concept that he was willing to show, and his current work-in-progress — an online multiplayer action combat game calledBombernauts. From the sounds of it, this one is going to be a big hit with theTowerfall/League of Legends/Bombermancrowd.

What’s that you say? There is no such thing as a “Towerfall/League of Legends/Bombermancrowd”? Well gosh darn it, there should be, and maybe afterBombernautsis released, there will be. Thanks again to Tyler for appearing on the show, and be sure totune in this Sunday at 4pm ESTwhen we welcomeSnakepixel(Owlboy,Savant) to the program.
