Tropes vs. Women in Videogameshas finally hit the internet, and people have been more snarky about it than Juno MacGuff at a “learn to write like Joss Whedon” script-writing seminar. All that snark wont change the truth — games that employ the damsel in distress trope en mass send a message to some that “helpless prize” is the role that women are most appropriate for.
One man’s daughter isn’t happy about it. She’s three years old, and “seemed pretty bummed out” that you couldn’t play as Pauline inDonkey Kong. Lucky for her, she’s got a dad with the skill and patience to make that happen. It looks pretty good too!
