Thomas Was Alonesales have eclipsed the one million mark, creator Mike Bithell revealed yesterday viaTwitter.

The minimalist platformer wasn’t an overnight success, though.Thomas Was Alonefirst arrived on Windows and Mac during the summer of 2012, meaning this milestone took nearly two years to achieve.

Previously, Bithellattributedmuch of his game’s success to the PlayStation 3 and Vita version that landed last April. The developer called PlayStation Plus “amazing,” adding the platform “inflated [his] audience beyond what a normal esoteric indie platformer would have, which is great.”

Bithellnotesthe bulk ofThomas Was Alone‘s sales occurred during bundles, discounts, and other promotions; also pointing out the figuredoesn’t includePS Plus downloads. If those numbers were included, the total would be “a fair bit higher.”

Bithell is presently focusing on his next project,Volume,a stealth game in the vein ofMetal Gear Solid, which is expected to launch as a timed-exclusive on PS4 and Vita later this year.
