Another Humble Bundle has appeared, and it’s rather wonderful. Gorgeous point and click adventure gameBotaniculajoinsMachinariumandSamorost 2,among others, in theHumble Botanicula Debut Bundle. I’m a big fan of Amanita Design, so I was delighted to see this. As always, you can pay what you want, but if you pay above the average you can grab the short film,Kookyand the adventure titleWindosill. A bunch of award winning games and extras for less than the cost of lunch? Yes, please.
In keeping withBotanicula‘s theme, the charity supported by this bundle is theWorld Land Trust. It’s a global charity that works to protect plants, animals and endangered habitats around the world. You can get some cracking games and help out the planet, not bad at all. I already ownMachinariumandSamorost, but I’m going to dip into my meager funds, regardless. I missed lunch today, so it will all balance out.

However, not everyone is happy about this bundle. Things are not as idyllic in the real world as they are in the game. GOG.com has been offeringBotaniculafor preorder ever since they relaunched the site. Over there it was $10. With the game now going for much cheaper on the Humble Bundle, a number of customers are rather upset, but probably not as upset as GOG.com. The digital distributor had, according to a post in thediscussion thread, no clue this was going to happen.
The online retailer appeared to believe that preorders wereexclusive to their site, but even that doesn’t seem to have been the case, withGamersGatetaking them for the adventure game earlier today. However, Amanita isnow offeringcustomers who prerodered the game from GOG.com the full soundtrack, art book and Machinarium all for free. Meanwhile, GOG.com has donated $300 to the bundle, making them the #2 contributor. Clicking on their link takes you to theirtwitter, where they apologize and ask their customers to stay tuned. What was a good deal and some attention for a charity has become something of a drama-bomb, but hopefully those who did purchase the game are enjoying it, regardless.
