Can’t wait for the next chapter in theRed Factionfranchise? March too far out for you? THQ has interesting plans — releasing a “Red Faction Arcade” game on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network prior to the release ofRed Faction: Armageddon.
This says THQ Vice President of Core Games (I still can’t believe this is a thing!) Danny Bilson, who in aninterview with CVG, says the title will ship three to four months before the release ofArmageddon.
“What’s interesting is that we will sell it to the fans, it will have content you’re able to download that is TV show-related, it will build up the new game and also we can use it to drive pre-orders, too; we can give codes and aspects of it, we can give the whole thing away,” he explains.
The release is part of a larger strategy moving forward, with Bilson calling these titles “multi-faceted mini-games.” This means it won’t just be limited to Red Faction; Volition’s other title, the nextSaint’s Row, will get the same treatment.
“And in December we’ll announce theSaint’s Rowsituation,” he says, “which is the biggest trans-media play anyone has ever done.”
