In development at Frontier
I’m not sure where I was on June 16, but I wasn’t here readingDarren’s postaboutPlanet Coaster. In fact, I’m only now learning about the game. It looks like a treat for management sim fans.
While Atari is putting out a newRollerCoaster Tycoonthis year,Planet Coasterseems to be the one to watch. Not just because it’s being made by Frontier Developments, the studio behindRollerCoaster Tycoon 3(and more recentlyElite: Dangerous), but because it looks charming.

In this video, we’re told about the team’s approach to designing crowds. Park attendees have individual personalities. They’re expressive. They don’t clip through one another. And oh my goodness, I can’t wait to stick them on a “malfunctioning” ride and deny all wrongdoing.
