Please copy that floppy

At PAX East this week in Boston, Double Fine and Capybara Gameshave a shared booth(#992) with playable builds ofSuper Time Force,Dropchord, andBrutal LegendPC. Better yet, the studios have collaborated on an a new, technically-real-but-not-really game that sounds terrific.

“Ken [Yeung] and Vic [Nguyen] made a game calledCapy Fine Racing GP, which is a little jokey — but still rad fun —OutRun-style racer staring Capy and Double Fine characters,” Capybara co-founder Nathan Vellatold Edge.

“The game will be released on the 3.5″ floppies that come inside the Capy and Double Fine limited edition boxed bundle, AKA the retail version of the Steam bundle that we just launched which includes both studios’ Steam games,” explained Vella. “We only made 200 boxes, and even then some of the floppies might not work, but the people who buy them will be allowed and encouraged to share the game.”

This collaboration was done “for pure fun and loving the idea of doing cool shit with our friends,” and even though it’s “a real game, it’s also not at all arealgame.” I would pay good (real) money for the opportunity to play this thing in a more convenient format.
