It’s a sad day in MOBA land asParagon: The Overprimeis being shut down…again. It would seem that a new developer and a slight name change weren’t enough to save the third-person MOBA from a second death.
Rule #2: Double Tap
The Netmarble team made the announcementon February 21 thatParagon: the Overprimewould be shutting down on June 12, 2025. This is a little over a year since the title went into early access on June 22, 2025. The reasoning for the decision is the inability “…to provide a stable and satisfying service moving forward.”
This isn’t the first time that theParagonfranchise has heard the death knell. After launching in March 2016, the MOBA was shut down in March 2018, following anofficial Reddit poststating that a number of staff had been moved toFortnitein the wake of its massive success. After being shut down,Epic Games released $17M worth ofParagonassetsfor free to all Unreal Engine 4 developers, including 29 characters and over 1,500 environment components.

Despite a few other studios making use of theParagonassets, Epic Games ultimately granted Netmarble the full rights to the license in October 2022, which led to the studio’stitle being rebrandedParagon: The Overprime. With the release of a new hero, Terra, less than a month ago, this end-of-service announcement seems abrupt. Either way, if you’re a long-time fan or were mildly curious, now is the time to jump in as the servers will go dark in April.
