King of Kings: The Early Years on NES is holy crap

Test your Bible skills I may be one of the few people in the world who can be upsold on Kusoge (crap game). I was minding my own business, spending all my money at the local game store. The clerk there, perfectly aware of my infamous lack of taste, pulled out a boxed copy ofKing of Kings: The Early Years. Usually, I don’t collect boxed NES titles, but the price was right, and he made a convincing argument....

Life is Strange 2’s Episode 4 teaser trailer has a tumbleweed, and that’s how you know shit is goin’ down

It’s heartbreak warfare We expectLife is Strange 2to hit a crescendo awfully quickly. Sean and Daniel’s cursed roadtrip from hell is coming to an end soon; things are gonna get worse before they get better. The fourth episode,Faith, releases on August 22. This here isn’t the full-blown trailer. It’s just a teaser that will lead into the real trailer which is coming August 19....

Madden keeps its pimp hand strong in sales

In the recent Amazon.comsales charts, there’s one very familiar face:Madden. Common sense right? It’s the holidays and parents will buy what’s familiar for their kids. Still, it’s funny, as much as we bash EA for spitting out franchises, it’s always been their bread and butter and looks like it always will. We really can’t blame them for that business decision, as much as we’d like to. Anyway, check out the top sellers for each platform and see if anything catches your eye:...

Meatboy hits it big, coming to WiiWare in late 2009

I’m not much of an indie game guy, butEdmund McMillenhas captivated me. When I playedAether— a game that deals with childhood and escapism — I experienced an abundance of emotion that I wasn’t prepared to confront. I’ve never had a game do that to me. I felt weak, stripped of my armor and face. ThenMcMillensurprised me again with hisN+styleMeatboy. Conceptually, it doesn’t carry the weight thatAetherdoes. It’s a game that stars a bloody wad of meat that bounces around the screen leaving chunks in its wake....

My PS3 backlog just spiraled out of control and I need to prioritize what to play

With Sony cutting off access to the PlayStation Store on PSP, Vita, and PS3 later this year, some of us have been exhaustively combing through recommendation lists to whittle down which digital games we want to grab before we’re no longer able to purchase them. As I’ve covered before on Destructoid,it’s a needlessly drawn-out process. I’m nearing the end of this arguably ill-advised project — I hope! For me, half the battle was just going through my Download List and getting everything I already owned situated on my PS3 and PlayStation TV....
