Gundam solve their problems violently in Battle Operation

Mecha fighting each other. Again. Why do we never see these mechanical behemoths hugging it out or discussing their problems like reasonable adults? I suppose the main problem there would be that most of those things seem to be piloted by emotionally unstable teenagers. Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operationhas a very long name, but more importantly it’s a free online 6 vs. 6 mecha battering game. Sliding about, bumping into other mecha, wrestling moves, it’s got the lot....

H1Z1 is a lot more playable, still a ways out

I stopped tallying at ten counts of the word “iteration” in the early goings of the SOE Live 2014 presentation for SOE’s upcoming (PC, PS4) survival zombie simH1Z1. Okay. I get it. That’s why the game wasn’t so hot when it wasfirst shown offand why there’s still work to do before it comes to Steam Early Access “soon.” “It kicked us in the butt,” I was told of initial previews, which were not all that kind to the project (our own Wett Brett Makedonski called it “almost unplayable“)....

How to get Mana & upgrade spells in Forspoken

Right off my Mana WhileForspokenhero Frey Holland is understandably pretty smug about her newfound magical powers, it doesn’t take long before the Queen of Queens learns that her rudimentary starter skills are not quite going to take her very far. As Frey progresses through the corrupted land of Athia, it is vital that she improves key areas of her arcane abilities in order to topple the Tantas. In Forspoken, additional Attack and Support magic spells are purchased with a form of mythic currency called Mana....

Humble’s giving away the original Homefront right now

Grab it before Saturday Another day, another Humble freebie. This time it’s 2011’s THQ-published-but-eventually-bought-by-Deep-SilverHomefront. Or, “The Gang Solves The North Korea Situation.” It’s easy enough to nab. Just go tothe game’s page on Humble, add it to your cart, check out, and then redeem the Steam key that you’re sent. Not much hassle at all. Liberating America will be the more arduous task. Interested parties shouldn’t sleep on this too long though....

I hope Disgaea on Steam is a sign of things to come

The first game hits PC in February NIS is bringing the originalDisgaeato Steam. Cool, right? The strategy role-playing gamewill be availableon PC in February with enhancements including an updated user interface and textures, Steam achievements and cloud saving, keyboard/mouse and gamepad support, and all of the content fromAfternoon of Darkness. Also, adorably, the name of this version is “Disgaea PC.” I have to imagine NIS will bring more titles from its back catalog to Steam if this does well, which I suspect it will....

Night at the Museum director reportedly helming Uncharted movie

Okay What was originally a semi-interesting Mark Wahlberg “family driven” drama from the mind of David O. Russell was dragged through development hell, and is now subsequently back from the dead. The project of course is theUnchartedmovie, which has been confirmed and de-confirmed for years now — butaccording to Deadline, it’s getting fast-tracked with director Shawn Levy. Levy has had a relatively successful career spanning two decades with safe family comedies likeCheaper by the Dozen, Night at the Museum, andPink Panther, making him a pretty bankable director and an obvious choice for Sony Pictures to ensure that they at least make their budget back....

Of course: Call of Duty puts Exo suits on zombies for DLC

Havoc’s early next year Call of Duty: Advanced Warfaresaw a shift in the franchise toward faster and more vertical gameplay. This was a change that was mostly praised. But, how can Sledgehammer include the fan-favorite zombies in the game? Their slow shuffling ways will surely be out of place and easy to thwart with all the players in Exo suits. Screw it, give the zombies Exo suits, too. These high-flying freaks will make their first appearance inAdvanced Warfare‘s initial DLC packHavoc, which is set to release in early 2015....

Pix the Cat is out now and its Nostalgia mode is sweet

Infinite Pac-Man has 20’s animation-styled nostalgia mode For the same reasons I was excited as heck forCuphead, I am lovingPix the Cat‘sSnake-like Nostalgia Mode for reminding me of Felix the Cat and 20s animation in general.
