The Divisionshares its DNA with a lot of Ubisoft games but it is technically not a sequel and it isn’t exactly based on existing property (despite the “Tom Clancy’s” in the title). That makes it a “new IP.” And this new IP went beyondbreaking Ubisoft’s day-one salesrecords by grossing $330 million (worldwide, physical and digitial estimation) and “ongoing record sell-through sales” en route to becoming the best-selling new franchise in its first five days of existence....

Treyarch has been good toZombie fanswith the massive overhauling ofBlack Ops 6maps and quality-of-life updates.Season 2aims to bring even more to the table, introducing The Tomb, an ancient burial site overrun by hordes of zombies. As a catacombs-based location, The Tomb reminds me of the good old days withBlack Ops 2’sZombiesBuried map. However, this area seems a bit more open, as you have the free range to go deep in the catacombs or outside an excavation site....

And the most-played As we inch toward the new year, Valve has shared a list of the100 best-selling games on Steam in 2018. Along with the general list, there are also a few more specific groupings including thetop 150 new releases,VR best-sellers,Early Access success stories, and themost-played Steam games. Up first is the $14.99 digital upgrade for Xbox 360 and PS3, out in early June. Finding family in unlikely places Video games have always been a way to escape, but recently, they’ve become my favorite way to leave everything behind for a while. That interactivity is pretty strong stuff, because of late I find myself much more immersed in game narratives than those of other media. I’m thankful for the distraction — these days, I really seem to need it. Like everyone else, I’ve had a rough go of it the last year or so....

The level of detail in the graphics includes “leather straps on Ivy’s thighs make real-time indentations into her skin as she fights,” and even “ridiculously endowed ninja gal Taki, who demonstrates what happens now that consoles can chum out superflucous polygons to render realistic nipples under a skintight leotard.” In my opinion,Soul Calibur Iis the best 3D fighting game ever released, and after two dull sequels, this one seems to bring a fresh breeze into the series....

Things are very much up in the air regarding theGhostbustersvideogame, which was looking great but has suffered thanks to Activision-Blizzard giving it the chop. Having been pushed back to 2009, the developers are still looking to release its game atsomepoint, but there’s only one problem — there’s no publisher. Rights holder Sony Picturesis said to beworking with Activision to try and find a solution that works for everybody. The interesting upside to this is that the game could now be in a position to tie-in with the 25th Anniversary ofGhostbusters, and this is something that Sony Pictures is certainly looking into....
