Let’s cut straight to the chase. Diddy Kong is not inMario Kart World, and I can hear the cries of agony from the DKC faithful as I reveal that information for anyone lucky enough to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 today.

No matter how many races you go on or how badly you search around, Donkey Kong’s little sidekick isnowhere to be found in the world as a playable character or either an Easter egg,and while that’s unfortunate for fans, I’m not surprised.

Diddy Kong was not a part ofMario Kart 8at the start either, with Nintendo choosing the hold him back for potentially future DLC. And considering how this is Nintendo’s first big Switch 2 game, we imagine a big DLC expansion is on the cards in at least a year with new racers and tracks, and maybe even a few Nintendo characters to make a cameo likeZeldaandAnimal Crossingdid inMario Kart 8, andSplatooninMario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Even without Diddy Kong, the game’s roster is pretty packed with a bunch of new and returning faces, on top of the various costumes you may find by eating foot items around the world. There is also an amazing crop of random enemy NPCs to find by random chance as you explore the world and play games, so theres plenty of content to sink your teeth in.

But I know, I get it Diddy Kong fans, we wanted to see him in the game too, and heck, we don’t even know if he will appear in Donkey Kong Bananza next month. Why so much Diddy Kong hate, Nintendo!? Who knows, maybe the reason Diddy Kong isn’t here is because they are saving the character for a brand new Diddy Kong Racing game… we can hope, right?
