Gravity Fallsfans are all tied up in knots over a website that was first discovered in The Book of Bill by show creator Alex Hirsch, which was released on July 23. The website, ‘This is Not a Website Dot Com,’ has sparked hope thatGravity Fallsmay be making a comeback.

If this all sounds a little convoluted, don’t worry. Even I’m confused and I’m a fan of the show.

When fans first discovered the password-protected website through The Book of Bill, they were astoundingly fast at figuring out that the password was “TJ Eckleburg,” whose eyes are on a billboard overlooking the valley of ashes in The Great Gatsby. I know, it’s all a bit bizarre but stick with me here.

Upon inputting this into the password box, visitors were taken to a countdown screen.

This immediately sparked hope that some form of announcement was on the horizon regardingGravity Fallsand a potential comeback, but of course this couldn’t be so straightforward. When the countdown reached zero, one of the show’s characters, Soos, appeared, stating that they were having technical difficulties and trying to figure out which wires went where. Then, the countdown continued into negative digits.

And so it remained for over a week, the countdown continuing and nothing changing. Fans of the show spent a long time trying to figure out if it was possible to do anything. Even Jason Ritter, who voices Dipper, took to Twitter to fan the flames of fan speculation with a hilariously bizarre and very long thread.

And then today, everything changed. The countdown stopped, and fans were asked to refresh the page. Once they did, there was a whole new mystery unfolding before their very eyes and a lot of secrets waiting to be discovered.

Weird Al Yankovic makes an appearance on the Gravity Falls thisisnotawebsitedotcom.com website

On the website now, there’s a text box that can be typed into. Fans have gone into overdrive, finding inputs that provide some form of result. So far, there’s a long list of inputs, but here’s some of the best I’ve found:

There are many more than just these, and I’m sure that more will be discovered in the next few days. My favorite is definitely ‘weird,’ which conjures up Weird Al Yankovic trapped inside the computer and screaming to be let out.

Despite all of this, there’s still no confirmed season three ofGravity Falls, and perhaps there won’t be. This could all be a very clever publicity stunt to boost attention for The Book of Bill, and if that’s the case, then it’s utterly genius. Either way, this has definitely reignited the passion that fans feel toward the show and the hope that season three will one day grace our screens.
