In just shy of a month, we’ll be able to jump into theMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which bringsMetal Gear Solid,Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, andMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater— as well as the originalMetal Gear,Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, andSnake’s Revenge— to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and PC.
But,now we knowwhat frame rate each of theMetal Gear Solidtitles will have, and it says a lot about the experience fans of the series can expect with this collection.

To start, the originalMetal Gear Solidwill run at a consistent 1920×1080, 30 fps across the gamut of consoles, except for the handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch, which will run at 1280×720, 30 fps.
When it comes toMetal Gear Solid 2andMetal Gear Solid 3, they’ll run at a semi-consistent 1920×1080, 60 fps on all consoles except for — big surprise — the Switch, where it’ll run at 1280×720, 30 fps in handheld mode and 1920×1080, 30 fps in docked mode.

The chart does make it clear that the versions included in theMaster Collection“have been up-converted to display at these resolutions.” But it seems like theHD Collectionversions ofMetal Gear Solid 2andMetal Gear Solid 3are what we’re getting here, so if you have played those versions, you have some idea of what to expect in the Master Collection.
