Better hide, teens
It’s been quite a while since videogames explored the ghastly grounds of Camp Crystal Lake. After a 26-year hiatus since the last licensedFriday the 13thvideogame, Jason Voorhees will bring his slow-shuffling and machete-hacking ways back to games.
According toEGM, the tentatively titledFriday the 13this already in development by an experienced studio, and the project will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks. It’s reported to be a predator/prey asymmetric multiplayer game (what isn’t these days?) in a Jason against a group of teens scenario.

Given the recent push to revitalize theFriday the 13thproperty, the reveal makes sense. Sean S. Cunningham, the original film’s director, told EGM “With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of theFriday the 13thstory in interactive form.”
There’s obviously no official release window yet, but an early asset simply says “2015” on it. It doesn’t matter whenFriday the 13thcomes out, we’ll be there ready to send him to the the bottom of the lake, to the depths of Hell, or to the far reaches of space.
