Surprise! A newCall of Dutygame is coming out in 2025.
Not surprised? That’s okay, nobody really is, but the fact that it’sBlack Ops 7directly afterBlack Ops 6is a bit surprising. This is the first consecutive release in theBlack Opsseries, following in the footsteps ofModern Warfare IIIthat launched directly afterModern Warfare IIa couple years back.
2025’sCoDiteration will be heading into the near-future of 2035, a big departure from BO6’s setting of the early 1990s, so expect some big changes when it comes to weaponry, aesthetics, setting, and more. But those aren’t the only differences we can expect.

Here’s everything we know so far about the latestCoDgame,Black Ops 7.
Everything we know so far about BO7
Treyarch and Raven team up
Treyarch continues its streak of seemingly never-endingCoDdevelopment along with its duo in Raven Software.Black Ops 7sees the two super-studios teaming up to co-lead development, along with a large number of other studios assisting in making the new title.
David Mason, BO2 sequel
TheBO7storyline will be a sequel toBlack Ops 2, set in a near-future where android robots and a company called The Guild are at the forefront of the plot, teasing the events to come in Black Ops 3, which end up happening 30 years later.
“Developed as the next evolution ofBlack Ops, this is the first-ever consecutive release within the series, set more than 40 years after the events ofBlack Ops 6,” Activision said. “The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events ofBlack Ops 2andBlack Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.”

BO7brings the Hollywood power as Milo Ventimiglia stars as Mason, while Kiernan Shipka will play the antagonist Emma Kagen, and Michael Rooker returns asBO2star Mike Harper.
Co-op campaign is back in Black
A fan-favorite feature is finally back inBO7,allowing players to team up with friends to play the campaign in co-op. This used to be a franchise staple, and it’s been scarce over the past few years, but it will be a welcome addition and change for those who like to squad up every chance they get.
Trippy butterfly mind tricks
In the debut trailer, we see Mason seemingly hallucinating a blue butterfly and Raul Menendez, the antagonist of BO2,who died at the end of the game in its canon ending. Someone, likely Kagen and The Guild, is playing with his mind, which has been a recurring theme throughout theBlack Opsfranchise.
Evolved multiplayer
While nothing has been shown forBO7multiplayer yet (that’s coming later this summer), rumors have pointed to the game using an “evolved” version ofBO6’somnimovement, now including wall-running and potentially wall-diving. Other rumors suggest that BO2 maps may be included and remade forBO7, similar to howMWIIIusedMW22009’s maps as a base.
Activision, thus far, has only said that players can “harness near-future weaponry in a signature multiplayer experience packed with brand-new maps.”

Zombies, Zombies, Zombies
A mysterious image at the end of the debut trailer shows everyone’s favorite shambling undead. Zombies mode returns inBO7, with Activision describing it as the “next twisted chapter of Round-Based Zombies in the heart of the Dark Aether.”
Blackout comeback?
Another quick shot at the end of the debut trailer shows four players in wingsuits diving into what looks like Avalon, the long-rumored new battle royale map set in Europe. The wingsuits immediately evoke the imagery of the forgotten Blackout BR mode, which launched beforeWarzonealongsideBlack Ops 4.
A lot of Avalon is explorable in-game via going out of bounds on certain multiplayer maps, so it appears ready to take over as the next BR map. However, reliable leaker@TheGhostofHope has saidthat the tease is for the co-op campaign and that Avalon as a BR map has been scrapped and repurposed for the story mode.

Switch 2…maybe
Activision and Nintendo entered a 10-year agreement to bringCoDto the latter’s platforms…but that was two years ago. And now, Switch 2 is not listed inBO7’scurrent platforms. It’s possible that it could come in the future, but for now, Nintendo gamers are still awaiting the franchise’s arrival.
For now, it’s only been confirmed for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and on PC, Battle.net, Steam, and Xbox PC.
