Eternal Darknesswas developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo in 2002. The title is most memorable for its “sanity meter,” which depletes over time and enhances the game’s ominous atmosphere with a variety of psychological scares designed to make the player just as unhinged as their onscreen counterpart.

Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack has beenconfirmedto be involved with the title, whose studio has been more notable for courtroom drama rather than game development in recent years. The company became mired in legal battles with Epic Games following the release ofToo Humanin 2008, alleging that Epic unfairly used Unreal Engine 3 profits to fundGears of Warrather than make improvements to the software.
