Epic Games hasn’t been talking much aboutFortnightand now it’ssold theGears of Warrights to Microsoft. What’s going on over there? Unreal Engine 4 work and lots of it, from the sound of things. Speaking toEdge, EU territory manager Mike Gamble said that the company will have announcements to make at the Game Developers Conference in March.

Talking about the engine more generally, he noted “There haven’t really been any announcements of the games still under wraps — as soon as they start going live, then you’ll see suddenly see that we’re everywhere again. You’ll be thoroughly sick of us!”

According to Gamble, we’ll start to see UE4-powered console games during the Christmas period and in the first quarter of 2015. A fair amount of this will be new intellectual properties — he reckons the split is “at least 50/50, if not 70/30 in favor of new stuff. “There’s a lot of buffering,” he said. “A lot of studios are doing a franchise iterationanda new IP.”
