ThenewAstro BotWinter Wonderupdate added Gex to the game’s huge collection of cameo characters. While this may seem insignificant at first, his appearance may be our first hint thatFinal Fantasy,Kingdom Hearts, and other Square Enix properties are going to join this wonderful adventure very soon.

Since it currently owns theGexseries, Square Enix acknowledgedAstro Boton its official social media accountsfor the first time since the game’s initial release. This is particularly intriguing, becauseAstro Botlacks any cameos of characters from Square’s biggest IPs, likeFinal Fantasy,Kingdom Hearts,orDragon Quest, andgamers have been asking Team ASOBI to add them in for months.

And now, not only has Square Enix celebrated Gex’s inclusion, but Team ASOBI even respondedby thanking it for “joining the celebration”. Naturally, this interaction has excited fans of the game all over social media andfueled their speculationbecause, if Gex is inAstro Bot, now any character fromother iconic Square franchises could easily join the game as well.

Cloud and Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Needless to say,Final Fantasyis one of the most important and influential JRPG franchises in the industry, and it has made a huge impact on the PlayStation brand since the release ofFinal Fantasy VIIon the PS1 back in 1997. The only question is: WhichFinal Fantasycharacters should Team ASOBI add to the game?

Which Final Fantasy characters will join Astro Bot in the future?

While there are a lot of different characters to choose from, we can confidently predict that Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, Tifa Lockhart, and Aerith Gainsborough fromFFVIImost likely are some of the very firstFinal Fantasyicons that will joinAstro Botin the near future. However, other beloved characters – likeFinal Fantasy X‘s Tidus orFinal Fantasy XVI‘s Clive Rosfield – would be worthwhile additions as well.

On the other hand, there is Sora, the main protagonist of theKingdom Heartsseries, who was yet another glaring omission fromAstro Bot‘s initial roster of cameos. This one is a little bit more tricky since he is owned by Disney and not Square Enix, but Team ASOBI could still make it work.

Sora, Donald and Goofy in Wonderland (In Kingdom Hearts 1)

For example, the recent Winter Wonder update added twoSpider-Mancameos: Peter Parker and Miles Morales, characters that many people thought were going to be almost impossible to add to the game. So, if they could make it in, surely Square and Team ASOBI can find a way to add Sora as well. Of course, while other originalKingdom Heartsmay accompany him, it’s highly unlikely that Disney would approve of the inclusion of its classic characters, like Donald, Goofy, or Mickey.

But Square Enix is not just aboutFinal FantasyandKingdom Hearts: this company also owns other beloved and iconic gaming franchises that should make their way intoAstro Botvia character cameos. Some obvious examples include: the Heroes from theDragon Questseries, 2B and 9S fromNieR: Automata, any protagonist from theManaseries and Soa fromFoamstars.Astro Botis a celebration of the entire video game industry, and now it’s time for Square Enix to finally join the party.
