Wounded hearts tend to grow closer together, which is something theHelldivers 2community has learned after a recent crushing defeat. After a fellow diver found themselves at the receiving end of a boot, theHelldivers 2community swiftly responded by making them everyone’s “frend.”
A few days ago, aHelldivers 2subreddit user by the name of RoboBadger07shared a shattering imageof a conversation in a post titled, “The interraction [sic] that can make a grown man cry.” It starred a diver named dremskiy, who joined a match only for the host to tell them they were about to get kicked. “[W]e playing friends opnly,” the host explains. “[I] hv to kick you.”

Dremskiy replied, “im frend.” The plea fell on deaf ears: “dontmake this more difficult.”
The brief, devastating conversation exploded on the subreddit, spurning a wave of memes and creating the kind of camaraderie sorely needed for the wounded community.

Helldivers 2community needed a new frend, and one got a few too many
It’s been a rough go for theHelldivers 2community these last few weeks. I can elucidate the recent history for whole entire minutes, but I feel it could be more fun to go over it in tantalizing list form:
Indeed, things have been more optimistic for the live-service shooter. Not even the recent announcement ofits impressive sales figureswas enough to clear the dark clouds overhead. Perhaps the people didn’t need numbers, but a hero. Of sorts.

Dremskiy is alsoaware of their internet popularity, as discovered in a recent Reddit post. One player managed to run into them during a match and mentioned their fame. Dremskiy replied that they learned about the memes thanks to a friend, and says the whole situation has made them “genuinely happy.”
Even the officialHelldivers 2account on Twitter has gotten in on the fun.

For prosperity. For liberty. For democracy. For frend.
Sadly, if you’re looking to be a frend to dremskiy, you’re a little too late. Theirfriend list is apparently full, likely guaranteeing they will never be forced from a party ever again. If only everyone can have a friend like, erm, everyone.
